Atlanta Legal Experts on Buckhead Business RadioX Spotlights the Georgia Association of Paralegals

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - August 06, 2015) - On July 21, 2015, Atlanta Legal Experts welcomed to the studio members of the Georgia Association of Paralegals. Host Emily Rowell sat down with this panel to learn about their endeavors to advance the paralegal profession and the expertise of its members.

The Georgia Association of Paralegals (GAP) serves to enhance the role of paralegals in the legal profession, improve the working conditions of paralegals and maintain a continuing relationship with bar associations throughout the state. GAP is also a charter member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA), an issues-driven, policy-oriented professional association directed by its membership. NFPA’s mission is to promote a global presence for the paralegal profession and leadership in the legal community.

Participating in the discussion was Suzette Corley, the Global Privacy Paralegal for United Parcel Service, Inc. and current President of GAP. Corley helped lead the roundtable discussion along with Sabrina Henry, Senior Immigration Specialist at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP, and VP with GAP, Cynthia Bynum with DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office and the Bar Liaison of GAP, Angela Caruso with Morgan & Morgan and an Affiliate with GAP, and Melody Cox with Webb, Tanner, Powell & Wilson and the Director of Membership for GAP.

In 2010, GAP's Board of Directors approved recommendations and adopted position statements with respect to GAP’s Definition of a Paralegal; GAP’s Position on Regulation; GAP’s Position on Short-term Educational Programs; and, GAP’s Minimum Standards & Qualification Standards for Paralegals in the State of Georgia.

"These position statements serve as a guide to Paralegals seeking positions or holding Paralegal positions in Georgia," explained Corley. "It is also the intent that they serve as a guide for Georgia attorneys, corporations, governmental entities, and all other entities who utilize the services of Paralegals."
