Atlanta Pet Care Purveyor Makes Pet Safety a Priority: Mandates Animal First Aid Training for Its Staff, Offers Free Workshop to Community Members

FETCH! Pet Care(TM) of Atlanta Making Fido and Felix Safer by First Aid Training and Educating Its Staff Members as a Job Requirement; Company Sponsoring a Free Animal First Aid and Healthy Habits Workshop on May 4 Open to Area Residents

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - March 26, 2008) - Today, pet owners throughout Atlanta increasingly regard Fido and Felix as a bona fide family member whose well-being and safety is paramount. With this in mind, FETCH! Pet Care of Atlanta, Georgia, a provider of professional pet sitting and dog walking services in the region, today announced it has made animal first aid training and education a mandatory job requirement among its entire staff of professional pet care providers to assure the utmost well-being and safety of pets under the company's care.

Through the mandate, each FETCH! Pet Care of Atlanta staff member now receives direct one-on-one training from credentialed medical professionals at the Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital on all facets of animal first aid, relative to both emergency procedures and daily medical care. The training covers a comprehensive range of issues, including how to properly administer injections, medicinal fluids and difficult pills or eye drops to dogs as well as cats and small animals that may squirm and scratch.

The staff training also covers what to do if an animal swallows a litany of dangerous items, and how to detect signs of physical illness -- environment-driven such as heat stroke and otherwise -- through eye and/or gum color, pulse and other key indicators -- and what to do in those instances. The company's first aid training also covers animal temperament and behavior so staff members are educated on how to identify and manage pets with emotional disorders, such as anxiety or depression.

In addition, FETCH! Pet Care of Atlanta now offers "Go Fetch!" -- a four-legged fitness service assuring pets under the company's care get up, move and have fun for sustained periods of time with each visit. For those opting for the company's Go FETCH! service, pet sitters arrive at the client's home outfitted with balls, frisbees, play toys, string and sheer enthusiasm to give the dogs and cats a fun-filled workout. Each animal exercise regime is carefully tailored to the pet's age, ability, health condition, preferences and temperament.

"Many pets have special needs, including those who are older, overweight or experiencing breeding and genetic complications, and thus require a higher level of specialized, personalized care," said Kathryn Dobes, owner and operator of FETCH! Pet Care of Atlanta. "Clients in this situation come to us so that, in their absence, their beloved pet may continue to receive love, affection and expert-based treatment and care -- medical and otherwise -- in comfortable and familiar surroundings and without disrupting the pet's daily routine."

In working toward the company's objective of making Atlanta, Georgia's pets among the safest in the country, FETCH! Pet Care of Atlanta also announced that it will be sponsoring a free animal first aid and healthy habits workshop that is open to the community at large. The workshop will take place at 2:00 pm on May 4, 2008 at Red Bandanna - Chastain Park, 3872 Roswell Road NE, Suite 84, Atlanta, GA 30342, and will cover how to identify problems, administer daily and emergency medical care and generally foster a pet's health and well-being through good nutrition, exercise and interaction.

Each participant in attendance will receive a certificate of completion and pet first aid kits will also be distributed to a select number of attendees. Space is limited -- interested participants may reserve their spot and/or get more event details by contacting the FETCH! Pet Care of Atlanta at 404-846-9008 or Atlanta@FetchPetCare.com.
