Media Advisory/Interview Opportunity/Photo Op

DAREarts, Canada's charity that empowers vulnerable kids, is pleased to partner with Canada's critically acclaimed Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada as it proudly makes its Toronto debut with a one-night-only performance of Ghosts of Violence, an original full-length multimedia ballet that seeks to explore domestic violence in a brave new medium.

Ghosts of Violence presents its audience with a compelling story of four women experiencing abuse from their partners. Conceived and choreographed by Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada's artistic director, Igor Dobrovolskiy, in collaboration with award-winning playwright and director, Shannon Pollock, this innovative production examines the human condition through contemporary dance and visual projections.

This work combines dramatic narrative through dance, performed to music of Russian composers Alfred Schnittke and Sergei Rachmanioff.

Ghosts of Violence has partnered with local organizations: YWCA, Women's Abuse Council of Toronto, White Ribbon Campaign, Assaulted Women's Helpline, and DAREarts to bring awareness to the issue of abuse by providing a platform on which to provide education about their services.
