Video News: The New Shogun Studio is an All-In-One 4K/HD 3RU 2-Channel Recorder, Monitor and Playback Deck With Dual 7" 1920 X 1200 Displays

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - November 17, 2015) - B&H Photo is pleased to announce the release of the Atomos Shogun Studio. Diverging from the company's traditional on-camera monitors/recorders, the Shogun Studio is a 4K/UHD deck that packs the latest Atomos monitor, recorder, and playback technology into a 3RU rack-mountable chassis. With dual 7" 1920 x 1200 monitors, two-channel recording, and an extensive feature set, the Shogun Studio is ideal for live events, studio productions, broadcast environments, and on-set monitoring and recording.

Inheriting many features from the on-camera Shogun that came before it, the Shogun Studio features HDMI and 12G-SDI inputs that support 4K/UHD, HD, and even raw video signals from compatible cameras. Video is recorded using edit-ready 4:2:2 10-bit Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHD codecs. With dual-channel support and built-in HDMI and SDI down-scaling, you have the flexibility to record simultaneously in two resolutions and codecs, and even convert and duplicate files directly within the unit itself. The Shogun Studio uses Master Caddy-equipped SSD and HDD media, as well as CFast cards using an optional adapter.

In addition to on-board recording, video can also be played out over HDMI and 12G-SDI outputs in 4K or downscaled to HD resolutions. With a playlist generation function, Genlock, and control via Ethernet, or RS422, the Shogun Studio can provide synchronized output at a variety of resolutions to drive video walls, digital signage, projection, and other A/V installations.

Like the on-camera recorders from Atomos, the Shogun Studio uses the AtomOS operating system with intuitive touchscreen control. With its compact 3RU size and shallow depth, the Shogun Studio presents a convenient yet powerful solution that is sure to find a home in many studios, A/V installations, live event productions, and DIT carts.
