ATS Announces Trial Team for Parker v. American Traffic Solutions, Inc. Litigation

TEMPE, AZ--(Marketwired - April 01, 2015) - Recently, all Florida photo enforcement putative class action lawsuits were consolidated into Parker v. American Traffic Solutions, Inc., et al, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Leading the ATS trial team will be preeminent class action defense litigator, Edward Soto of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. The trial team will also include Tom Meeks and Kevin McCoy of Carlton Fields Jorden Burt, a Florida-based national firm that ATS has relied on for legal guidance for nearly a decade.

Edward Soto is the Co-Head of Weil's Global Complex Commercial Litigation Practice and the Head of the Litigation Department in Weil's Miami office. A senior trial partner, Mr. Soto concentrates his practice on the trial and supervision of complex commercial litigation and class action defense. His substantial litigation experience includes cases involving: antitrust, business torts, contracts, employment, fraud, insurance coverage, lender liability, products liability, professional liability, and securities litigation. In his more than 30 years of trial practice, Mr. Soto has established a consistent record of successful results in major complex cases in both state and federal courts and before arbitration panels. He has achieved successful outcomes for his clients at every phase of the litigation process -- through case dispositive motions, trials, appeals, and settlements.

Tom Meeks, the leader of Carlton Fields Jorden Burt's National Trial Practice Group, has more than three decades of success trying complex business cases. In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Meeks is a former chair of the Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on Rules and Procedures of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Kevin McCoy brings additional trial experience to the team, having taken cases to jury verdict and recovered significant judgments on behalf of firm clients in cases involving high-stakes claims. Mr. McCoy has substantial experience in complex commercial and other business disputes including misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract actions, negligence, civil RICO Act claims, and complex insurance coverage disputes. In addition to defending the Parker matter, the Carlton Fields Jorden Burt team has been instrumental in supporting a gamut of issues our customers face from local traffic court hearings, to the implementation of the Mark Wandall Traffic Safety Act legislation, the City of Hollywood v. Arem appeal, etc.

"As we prepare to defend this case, we are committed not only to legal and strategic excellence, but also to the coordination of efforts with our co-defendant cities and vendors. This unparalleled legal team demonstrates ATS' commitment to aggressively defend against these claims as well as our continued dedication to supporting our customers and promoting public safety across Florida," ATS General Counsel George Hittner said.
