Attachmate FileXpress 7.2 Improves Compliance and Streamlines File Transfers

Expanded Automation, Authentication and Administration Capabilities Increase Efficiency for IT Professionals

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Aug 21, 2012) -  Attachmate Corporation today announced the availability of Attachmate® FileXpress® Internet Server 7.2 and FileXpress Command Center 7.2, part of the Attachmate FileXpress family of products for the managed file transfer (MFT) software market. FileXpress 7.2 enables IT professionals to strategically manage internal and external file transfers of any size, enhance data security, make IT operations more efficient, and improve overall reliability and automation of data movement.

"Moving data within the enterprise continues to be a top priority for organizations," said Ben Huang, analyst for Gartner. "Traditional file transfer methods like email and FTP lack central visibility management and governance and can severely inhibit strategic business initiatives such as data transfer and management. Managed file transfer solutions can help address these deficiencies."

The latest version of FileXpress expands automation, authentication and administration capabilities making FileXpress Internet Server and FileXpress Command Center more powerful than ever, helping individuals support their organizational objectives of maintaining a reliable data infrastructure, balancing data security with business efficiency and responding quickly to new business initiatives.

FileXpress 7.2 provides access to a broader range of authentication capabilities, enabling organizations' compliance with their security policies and the policies of their partners and customers. FileXpress also streamlines the experience of accessing and executing file transfers for end users and application developers and reduces the time spent provisioning file transfers.

"One of the most frequent complaints we hear from IT managers is that provisioning and managing file transfers has a negative impact on their ability to meet milestones for ongoing projects," said Sam Morris, product marketing manager for Attachmate's FileXpress. "With FileXpress 7.2, we've made it easier for IT so they can spend less time provisioning file transfers and focus time on more strategic tasks."

New features and enhancements include:

  • Automating file transfers - With FileXpress Internet Server 7.2 and Command Center 7.2, application developers can now leverage powerful new capabilities with Java Message Service (JMS) integration, extending industry-standard secure file transfer technologies and time-saving provisioning capabilities to modern message-oriented application development platforms.

  • Enhancing authentication - FileXpress Internet Server 7.2 and Command Center 7.2 expand FileXpress' authentication capabilities with new options that include client certificate authentication for browser-based file transfers, a user-driven password reset process that streamlines the experience for end users without interrupting IT administrators, and lockout settings for failed sign-on attempts that protect organizations from dictionary and DoS attacks.

  • Streamlining administrative tasks - This new version of FileXpress has additional features that enhance IT administrators' ability to delegate administrative tasks, restart failed jobs from within audit reports, and control uploads and downloads with powerful regular expression definitions. This enables IT to work more efficiently.
