ATU 113: Union Will Not Publicly Comment on TTC Ratification Vote Until Finished.

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - April 24, 2008) - The union that represents 9,000 operating and maintenance employees of the Toronto Transit Commission will not be making public comment on the membership vote to ratify the settlement reached last Sunday until after the vote is counted.

"This is an internal process," said ATU Local 113 President Bob Kinnear. "The ratification decision is now in the hands of our members. We do not welcome any interference by outside parties or the media. There will be time enough to comment after it's over."

Voting will take place all day Friday at several TTC work locations around the city and will be counted Friday evening.

It is expected that the results will be announced through a media advisory issued by the union at approximately 10:00 p.m.
