Through the Audi of America Veterans to Technicians Program, more than 100 veterans from the U.S. armed forces have secured careers as technicians at Audi dealerships across the country. The milestone was reached at the one year anniversary of the program launch.
Veterans to Technicians aims to connect highly skilled former military personnel with challenging and rewarding new careers as Audi certified service technicians, service consultants, shop foremen and parts specialists in dealerships across the country. Veterans with proven automotive skills are prioritized, though the program also provides opportunities for veterans with experience in power generation, aviation, welding, electronics, hydraulic systems and maritime systems.
Veterans are ideal employees for Audi dealerships because they are viewed as a natural fit for the brand: the skills, experience, maturity, integrity and work ethic they bring to Audi ultimately translates into a top-level service experience for the customer. These skills are especially valuable today as Audi seeks more technicians to match record product growth. Audi intends to sell 200,000 new cars and SUVs before the end of the decade.

All branches of military service are represented amongst the 100 employed veterans -- including Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard -- with a total of three to six years average military experience amongst those hired. The most popular military specialties are aviation maintenance, avionics/electronics repair, light wheeled vehicle repair, tracked vehicle repair, maintenance supervisor, and supply and parts clerk. Veterans have been hired by dealerships in all four Audi regions, with 237 dealers across the country currently participating in the program.
Support for the Veterans to Technicians Program
The Audi Veterans to Technicians Program benefits from the Veterans Opportunity to Work (VOW) to Hire Heroes Act passed by the U.S. Congress in November 2011. The act provides enhanced federal support in the form of special benefits and tax credits for veterans and their employers.
Veteran applicants receive hands-on coaching and interview preparation assistance. Those hired attend the Audi Fast Track Training Program to become brand certified. Hired veterans also qualify for a special tool purchase program sponsored by Audi and Snap-on Tools.
The program was developed by Audi of America with CALIBRE Systems, Inc. to link veterans with career opportunities with Audi dealerships, while also supporting Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs military transition initiatives.
