Audio Video Systems Wins Prestigious Award for Audiovisual Installation

CHANTILLY, VA--(Marketwire - September 18, 2008) - Audio Video Systems, Inc. (AVS), a leading provider of custom audiovisual (A/V) design-build and systems integration services for government, military and commercial organizations, has received the "Best Government AV Project (Federal)" award as part of Pro AV Magazine's first annual Spotlight Awards program. The Spotlight Awards recognize the best professional audio/video installations designed for corporate, educational, and other non-residential applications.

The award was given for the installation at the U.S. Marine Corps Forces' Pacific Headquarters Command Operations Center (MARFORPAC COC) in Hawaii, which required technological upgrades to meet its mission. AVS was selected as the A/V integrator to provide infrastructure and methodology to upgrade the A/V capabilities of the COC.

Entered projects from around the U.S. and Canada varied in scope from corporate boardrooms to university buildings with 11 receiving awards in their respective categories. Pro AV Editor Brad Grimes describes the winning projects as "a collection of AV projects that range from leading-edge to inspirational." Each winning project is being featured in the September 2008 issue of Pro AV Magazine, which covers professional audio and video products, installations and trends, and in an upcoming issue of ARCHITECT Magazine. An online version of Pro AV's September issue is now available at www.proavmagazine.com.

"We are honored to be recognized by Pro AV and our industry peers for our work," says Matt Komos, chief operating officer at AVS. "The MARFORPAC installation was a challenging and unique project for AVS because of the size and complexity of the system. The award says a lot about the hard work, talent and dedication of the staff at Audio Video Systems. We take pride in the quality of work we do in every system and every installation."

The Marine Corps' Command Operations Center in Hawaii serves as the central location for the Pacific Commander to coordinate two-thirds of the operational Marine forces, making it imperative that the facility provide state-of-the-art functionality. The aging A/V system did not meet today's need for higher information density displays and did not allow for simple reconfiguration of information from networks and sources to meet the complex needs of various crises.

Upgrades to the system consisted of installing audiovisual, computer and intercom systems in the COC's main watchfloor and several adjacent conference rooms and offices. AVS used innovative techniques in integrating the system including simultaneous vertical and horizontal edge-blending of high definition projectors onto two large video display walls. The completed system streamlined operating procedures, increased capabilities and provides technological and communication infrastructure to support MARFORPAC through the next decade. A full description of the project along with pictures, are now featured on www.avsinc.net.

AVS has designed and integrated systems for government agencies and the military in the Washington, D.C. region, and around the world, since the company was founded. As a long-term partner with the Pentagon Renovation (PENREN) program, AVS has been responsible for design and integration of A/V systems for the majority of the Pentagon's briefing facilities.
