Audyssey Announces Its ExpertFit™ Partner Program

Company's New App-Based Approach to Dramatically Improve the Listening Experience Extends to Headphone Manufacturers

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - May 10, 2013) - Audyssey, a leader in audio technology for the home, automotive, mobile and movie theater markets, today announced its ExpertFit ™ Partner Program. This program makes Audyssey's new headphone calibration technology available to manufacturers that want to get the most out of their products.

"People would be surprised to learn that most headphones -- even ones that cost several hundred dollars -- are actually capable of higher-quality sound," said Chris Kyriakakis, Audyssey's founder and CTO. "After years of perfecting MultEQ for room acoustic correction and Dynamic EQ for loudspeakers, we now have a way to bring these technologies to headphones for the first time by taking advantage of the processing power available in mobile devices."

Audyssey ExpertFit ™ is a comprehensive measurement and listening evaluation process that individually calibrates headphones to account for acoustical characteristics and human perception. A unique profile is created for each pair of headphones using newly developed algorithms inspired by Audyssey MultEQ and Dynamic EQ. Currently, these profiles can be used within Audyssey's own Media Player (amp) and within Songza's music-streaming service. For headphone manufacturers that want to bring ExpertFit ™ technology to their existing products, Audyssey also offers a turnkey iOS media player that can be tailored to their brand. This new app-based approach brings advanced processing power to headphones for the first time.

Manufacturers that take advantage of the ExpertFit ™ Partner Program can greatly improve the audio quality of their products without incurring the cost of additional components. Headphones today are tuned by modifying mechanical characteristics over a lengthy iterative process. With ExpertFit ™, manufacturers streamline this process, decreasing time-to-market and delivering the best possible sounding product to consumers. Also, with ExpertFit ™ manufacturers can achieve consistent sound across different models, something that is very difficult today with traditional manufacturing methods.
