August Housing Starts Up in Windsor


WINDSOR, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 11, 2012) - New home starts were up in August in the Windsor Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) according to preliminary data released today by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Builders laid foundations for 89 homes compared to 73 in August 2011.

"Construction of new single and semi-detached homes as well as townhomes was stronger in August compared to a year ago," said Margot Stevenson, Market Analyst for CMHC. "For most of 2012, residential construction activity has been trending upward in Windsor."

August starts in the Windsor area included 56 single-detached homes, six semi-detached homes and 27 townhomes.
