- Filing an administrative request for implementation of the cyanidation process for the Dieu Merci gold mine
Auplata announced that it has filed an administrative request to the French authorities for the implementation of an industrial unit of gold cyanidation for its Dieu Merci gold mine.
This unit, with a design capacity of 300 tons per day, will retreat the tailings accumulated during previous gravimetric operation of the concentrator. The tailings are stored in six ponds, it is planned to treat at first around 500 000 t coming from ponds 1 and 2. The leaching will be done in controlled reactors and state of the art technologies will be implemented to ensure efficient effluent treatment.
While respecting the environment, the use of the cyanidation process will improve the profitability and the efficiency of gold mining in French Guiana, and will make it less dependent on the fluctuations in the price of gold.
