Aura Minerals Announces Additions to Its Management Team

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 28, 2008) - Aura Minerals Inc. ("Aura Minerals" or the "Company") (TSX:ORA) is very pleased to announce the following additions to its management team.

Ms. Meghan Lewis has joined the Company as Vice-President, Corporate Development. Ms. Lewis will be responsible for assessing acquisitions and business development opportunities for the Company. Ms. Lewis has over 12 years of experience in the mining sector, the last six of which have been with Dundee group of companies, first as a mining analyst with Dundee Securities Corporation, then as Senior Mining Analyst for Dundee Resources Limited where she was responsible for financial modeling, commodity evaluation, project evaluation and transaction structuring. Prior to that, Ms. Lewis worked as an exploration geologist on several projects in North and South America.

Mr. Mark Pearson, P.Eng. will be joining the Company as Manager, Technical Services. Mr. Pearson is a mining engineer with over 18 years of experience in both operations and consulting. Most recently Mr. Pearson was Superintendent of Engineering for Elk Valley Coal Corporation responsible for mine planning, engineering, geology and environmental disciplines at the Cardinal River Operations. Prior to this, Mr. Pearson was Principal Mining Engineer and then Manager of the Mining Team at AMEC Mining and Metals in Vancouver, B.C., where he was responsible for several feasibility studies and detailed engineering mine designs. Most notably Mr. Pearson worked on the mine planning and engineering for several large iron-ore and copper projects. Prior to AMEC, Mr. Pearson worked for over 9 years in mine operations in British Columbia and Alberta. Mr. Pearson's primary responsibility will be the supervision of the ongoing studies and engineering for the Arapiraca Project.
