Aura Minerals Appoints Vice-President Exploration

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 22, 2008) - Aura Minerals Inc. ("Aura Minerals" or the "Company") (TSX:ORA) is pleased to announce that Mr. Alan Hitchborn has been appointed to the position of Vice President, Exploration, effective immediately. Mr. Hitchborn will assume responsibility for overseeing the planning and direction of Aura Minerals exploration programs in Brazil, particularly with respect to the advancement of the Arapiraca regional exploration targets.

Mr. Hitchborn has a B.Sc. degree in Geology and has over 25 years experience in both operations and exploration. He spent over 10 years with Placer Dome Inc. as Chief Geologist at one of their U.S. operations and as Senior Geologist in their Resource Estimation Group, where he worked on several international projects. For the past 10 years, Mr. Hitchborn has worked in the junior exploration sector where he was instrumental in the acquisition and development of a large gold/silver deposit in Mexico.
