Aurea Mining Completes Mapping of the Consorcio Claim on its Aurea Sur Project and Expands Exploration to Include a New Target

Aurea Mining Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MXA) ("Aurea" or "the Company") is pleased to report completion of over 2,300 hectares of regional surface geological mapping on its El Consorcio claim, part of the 100% owned Aurea Sur project located in Guerrero State, Mexico. This program completes the mapping of the south and central portion of the Aurea Sur project area. Mapping of the Ottawa claim, located south and west of El Consorcio, was completed previous to listing of Aurea Mining Inc. This phase of mapping has discovered a new showing of jasperoidal alteration that has a strike of over 2000m and 400m at its widest exposure. This showing has been targeted for further detailed exploration.

The regional mapping program over the Consorcio claim shows it to be bisected by an N-S striking valley that is flanked to the west by a ridge of Morelos Fm limestone. The limestone dips westerly due to an underlying intrusion that outcrops in the valley near the eastern base of the ridge. The intrusion strikes 5km N-S with an E-W exposure averaging 600m. To the east, shale and siltstone of the Mexcala Fm are extensively exposed.

Mapping along this contact has located an oxidized and brecciated jasperoid, exposed over a 2,000m N-S strike that is 400m at its widest. This is considered by Aurea geologists to be similar to the style of alteration observed on the adjacent GGB properties at Bermejal, Los Filos, Nukay and El Limon and occurs in a similar geological environment. Preliminary grab samples of the intrusion, limestone and jasperoid returned some anomalous gold, the best is 243 ppb from sample CON001, a grab sample of altered intrusion, prepared and assayed by ALS Chemex Laboratories in Guadalajara, Mexico and Vancouver BC. Sampling to date has consisted of random grab and chip samples from outcrop during regional mapping and results vary. The jasperoid remains to be systematically sampled.

While exploration of the Aurea Sur project is still in its early stages, the geological environment encountered through mapping is considered by Aurea geologists to be favorable for the development of skarn mineralization. Furthermore, they believe that the Consorcio claim shows a continuation of similar favorable geology previously mapped on the adjacent Ottawa claim.

In view of these encouraging results Aurea is expanding the exploration program of the Consorcio claim, to include detail mapping, systematic sampling and trenching.
