Aurea Mining Inc.-Aurea Norte Project Update-Completion of Ground Geophysics at La Morenita

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 13, 2006) -

Aurea Mining Inc. ("Aurea") (TSX VENTURE:MXA) has completed a ground magnetic survey over the Morenita showing on its Aurea Norte Project. Plans are underway to follow up on the encouraging anomalies identified by this survey.

The Morenita showing, located about 15 kilometres northwest of the Teck Cominco-Goldcorp El Limon-Los Guajes gold deposit is one of four typical GGB style exploration targets on the Aurea Norte Project. La Morenita was first identified as an exploration target during a surface mapping program where outcrops of jasperoid, marble and porphyry intrusion are located only eight kilometers northwest of Aurea's San Luis prospect. San Luis was drilled last year with a best intercept of 1.11 g/ton gold over 16.8m.

21 Line kilometres of ground magnetic survey were completed over the Morenita Showing. Two significant anomalous magnetic responses have been identified that coincide with the trend of the GGB style altered outcrops. Two field crews are in the area following up on these results with detail mapping and sampling. A decision will be made to extend the magnetic survey and define drill targets once mapping is complete and all results have been studied.

The Aurea Norte Project consists of nine 100% controlled mineral claims that cover nearly sixty thousand hectares The Aurea Norte Project represents the northern half of the over 80,000 hectare contiguous mineral claims held 100% by Aurea Mining Inc. The claims are strategically located within the Guerrero Gold Belt (GGB) where over 10 million ounces of gold have already been discovered and are currently being developed by Goldcorp, Teck Cominco and Grupo Mexico (IMMSA).
