Aurea Mining Inc.-Aurea Norte Project Update

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 10, 2006) -

NOT FOR DISSEMINATION OR DISTRIBUTION IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Aurea Mining Inc. ("Aurea") (TSX VENTURE:MXA) is pleased to provide an exploration update on its Aurea Norte project in Guerrero State, Mexico.

- Aurea's geology team has identified four gold targets associated with significant airborne magnetic anomalies on the Aurea Norte project.

- The four targets include the San Luis and Rey David showings, drilled in 2005 with a best intercept of 1.11 gpt gold over 16.8m; La Morenita showing, and the newly identified Apetlanca showing.

- Recently completed regional mapping confirms Guerrero Gold Belt ("GGB") style alteration in all four showings, including marble, marble skarn and oxidized jasperoid, altered granodiorite and andesite porphyry. Silicified breccia and pyritic jasperoidal breccias occur within associated fault structures.

- All four gold targets occur on the same trend as the Teck Cominco-Goldcorp's joint venture 'El-Limon' gold deposit and with the Los Filos project, currently undergoing feasibility and mine development, respectively.

- A grid sample program completed prior to Aurea's listing on the TSX-V in 2005 confirmed anomalous gold mineralization in the San Luis and Rey David showings. Results of that program can be viewed at www.aureamining.com.

- Semi-detailed mapping and grid sampling programs are currently underway on La Morenita and Apetlanca showings with two geological teams on site.

- The results of a 21 line km ground magnetic survey recently completed over La Morenita are expected shortly.

The Aurea Norte project consists of 100% controlled mineral claims which cover an area of over 59,000 hectares. The Aurea Norte project represents the northern half of the over 80,000 hectare contiguous land package held 100% by Aurea Mining Inc. This land package is strategically located within the GGB, where over 10 million ounces of gold have already been discovered and are currently being developed by Goldcorp, Teck Cominco and Grupo Mexico (IMMSA).
