Aurelian Reports Results From Exploration Drilling On The Camp Copper-Gold Porphyry Discovery

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 22, 2006) - Aurelian Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:ARU) is pleased to announce the successful intersection of copper-gold mineralization at the Camp porphyry during an exploration drilling program in January at its Condor Project in southeastern Ecuador.

Both CP-05-46 and CP-06-47 intersected copper porphyry stockwork, with both the intensity of the mineralization and the copper and gold grades steadily increasing down hole. Results are summarized in the table below, drill hole CP-05-46 has previously been released (PR 28/11/2005).

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Drill hole From (m) To (m) Interval (m) Cu % Au g/t
---------------------------------------------------------------------
CP-05-46 241.00 298.35(EOH) 57.35 0.29 0.04
---------------------------------------------------------------------
CP-06-47 185.40 301.40 (EOH) 116.00 0.35 0.09
---------------------------------------------------------------------
including 275.50 301.40 (EOH) 25.90 0.47 0.13
---------------------------------------------------------------------
CP-06-48 Did not intersect porphyry mineralization
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: intervals are calculated using a 0.2% Cu cutoff, including a
maximum of 7m internal waste.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The Camp copper-gold porphyry target is currently defined by an 800m by 500m intense magnetic anomaly that is open to the west. The two hole program was designed to test the existence of more robust mineralization after drill hole CP-05-46 intersected copper porphyry mineralization on the edge of the anomaly late last year (PR 28/11/2005).

The target is covered by post-mineralization conglomerate, with a true thickness of 20m in CP-05-46 and 45m in CP-06-47. Drill hole CP-06-48 was drilled near the western edge of the anomaly, but did not intersect copper-gold porphyry mineralization, instead staying in conglomerate to the end of hole (173.30m). The drill hole defines a fault that offsets the western third of the anomaly to depth. However, the drill hole did intersect a broad zone of pyrite replacement that is anomalous in arsenic, antimony and mercury and is interpreted to be epithermal mineralization buried within the conglomerate-filled basin.

The Camp porphyry is approximately 20 kilometers south of the Corriente Resources Mirador copper gold deposit and is interpreted to lie within the same copper-porphyry belt.

At press, drilling had just been completed on hole 5 of an 8 hole program testing a buried, high level epithermal gold system at the Fruta Del Norte target. Significant epithermal veining and brecciation has been intersected in 4 of the drill holes, extending the strike length of the Bonza-Las Penas epithermal system to over 3km. To date only 750m of the system has been extensively drilled and included in an inferred mineral resource estimate.
