Virgin Media garnered the award for the implementation of highly polished access control mechanisms with IAM technologies for the WiFi network of the London Underground metro system. The solution, based on Oracle's Virtual Directory and Entitlements Server products, went live on time and ahead of the immovable deadline of the 2012 Olympic Games. At peak loads, it serviced more than 84,000 simultaneous users across the Underground network.
