Aurora Solar Technologies Introduces Diffusion Furnace Verification System

Standalone offering expands market for existing solar cell production lines

NORTH VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Nov. 17, 2015) - Aurora Solar Technologies Inc. ("Aurora") (TSX VENTURE:ACU)(OTCBB:AACTF)(FRANKFURT:A82), a leader in inline measurement and control technology for the photovoltaic manufacturing industry, is pleased to announce the introduction of a stand-alone version of its Decima™ 3T measurement and associated Veritas™ process visualization software built into an automated wafer handling system. This product allows solar cell manufacturers to easily retrofit the Decima 3T with Veritas into their existing cell production lines and take advantage of the resulting quality improvements. The Aurora technology enables these existing plants to tighten bin distribution by benchmarking their performance, establishing best operating practices and quickly diagnosing and troubleshooting poor performing lines.

"This product is a direct response to the significant requests we have received from both furnace suppliers and production line operators for a complete automated system for existing cell manufacturing plants", said Michael Heaven, Chairman and CEO of Aurora. "Simply place full carriers of wafers in the integrated Aurora automation system and the wafers are automatically measured by the Decima™ 3T measurement system, mapped to their position in the diffusion furnace and reloaded in an empty carrier. In a matter of minutes, the Veritas™ process visualization software generates a graphical image of the variation of each and every wafer in the tube of the diffusion furnace. Instead of testing a few wafers from each batch using a four point probe, the Aurora automated system measures up to 800 wafers or more in just minutes."

Existing cell manufacturing plants have several diffusion furnace rooms, each with half a dozen furnaces. The batch from a furnace tube is either automatically or manually unloaded in cassette style carriers. The Aurora automated system is designed to operate right on the production floor in the diffusion room and accepts a full range of different carrier types. Aurora recommends one Aurora automated system per furnace room and replaces the existing labor-intensive four point probe systems on the production floor.
