Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center Recognized as Among the Best by U.S. News & World Report

Aurora St. Luke's Named Number One in the Milwaukee Metro Area

MILWAUKEE, WI--(Marketwired - July 21, 2015) - Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center today announced that it has once again been recognized as a top hospital in Wisconsin by U.S. News & World Report, one of the nation's leading news organizations. In the annual rankings by the publication for 2015-2016, Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center is ranked number one in the Milwaukee metro area and number two in the state of Wisconsin.

"Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center is honored to once again be named to this prestigious list by this premier news organization," said Marie Golanowski, President of Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center. "This ranking is a testament to the outstanding quality of patient care being delivered by our physicians, nurses and staff each and every day at St. Luke's, and speaks to our ongoing focus on excellence."

In addition to being named number one in the Milwaukee metro area and number two in the state this year, Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center ranked among the top 50 hospitals in the nation in the four following specialty areas: cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, and geriatrics. Additionally, Aurora St. Luke's was also deemed a "high performing" hospital in the areas of cancer, gynecology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonology, orthopedics and urology.

For 2015-2016, U.S. News evaluated hospitals in 16 adult specialties and ranked the top 50 in most of the specialties. Less than 3 percent of the nearly 5,000 hospitals that were analyzed for Best Hospitals 2015-2016 were nationally ranked in even one specialty.

U.S. News and World Report publishes Best Hospitals to help guide patients who need a high level of care because they face particularly difficult surgery, a challenging condition or extra risk because of age or multiple health problems. Objective measures, such as patient survival and safety data, adequacy of nurse staffing and other data largely determined the rankings in most specialties.
