Aurum Energy Park Heats Up With New Land Sale Announcement

Sign of the times: Alberta's over 250 billion dollar oilsands and energy economy continues to drive land sales and economic growth in Edmonton

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Nov. 18, 2013) - Ken and Patricia Mariash's Focus Equities is quickly selling out of land in its Aurum Energy Park (Aurum). And no wonder: with 97% of Alberta's oil found in the Edmonton service area from Red Deer to the Northern Alberta border, Aurum is best positioned to serve companies working in the oil and gas sector. Saipem is the latest to join other world-class companies like Mammoet, WorleyParsonsCord, Kiewit Energy Canada, Gibsons Energy, and Wayward Steel in the park, all of whom see Aurum as a very attractive choice for positioning themselves for the next 100 years of oilsands and northern development.

Aurum is 800 acres of mixed zone land in Northeast Edmonton, and land sales in Aurum have been a sign of the strong economic times in Alberta. According to the City of Edmonton report on industrial assets (2013), Edmonton has a real gross domestic product (GDP) of nearly $80 billion, with forecast year-over-year growth rate of 3.6% for 2013. Combined with the lowest industrial property taxes of any major Canadian city, Edmonton and Aurum provide exceptional value and long-term benefits.

"We're so pleased to welcome Saipem into the park," says Ken Mariash, It makes sense to get in now, given the economic projections in combination with our location and attractive rates, now is the time to look at Aurum. North Edmonton will be an even more significant logistics hub for northern Alberta in the very near future. We're planning ahead for that eventuality."

What makes Aurum unique from other parks of its size is its geographic proximity to Fort McMurray and major access routes. With the extension of the Henday in 2016, some companies are looking at the road ahead, and deciding that Aurum offers an attractive mix of very competitive rates, building to suit, proximity to road and rail, and future transportation solutions that will speed product to market.

Edmonton is the logistics and fabrication hub for much of the investment in oilsands activity in northern Alberta. Aurum is well suited not only to be a logistics hub for fabrication and modular building companies, but has the potential to become a budding cluster of experts from the same and different disciplines, working in cooperation if not partnership from one location.

Aurum is another of the bold projects undertaken by Focus Equities' founders and principles, Ken and Patricia Mariash. It's a forty year history of successful commercial and residential projects that today include the recent development of Meadows Mile at Deerfoot Meadows, and an impressive reclamation of industrial land in Victoria, where the 20-acre, master-planned community of Bayview Place now resides overlooking the inner harbour.

"Every project is about adding value to communities," says Focus Equities co-founder Patricia Mariash. Whether it's industrial, retail, or residential, we always want to leave a positive legacy, one that creates value for today and tomorrow."
