Austin Asian Chamber Honors William Wang, CEO of VIZIO

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - Apr 9, 2015) - The Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce (GAACC) is proud to announce that the recipient of the GAACC 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award is William Wang, founder and CEO of VIZIO, Inc. This prestigious award will be presented at the Ovation on May 29, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Austin.

Each year GAACC recognizes Asian business leaders, companies and organizations that have made significant contributions to the American economy or the welfare of the Asian Pacific American community. GAACC's highest individual honor is the Lifetime Achievement Award. Past recipients of this award include Manoj Saxena, Founding Partner of The Entrepreneurs' Fund and The Honorable Christopher Lu, Deputy Secretary of the United States Department of Labor.

Wang's entrepreneurial career and leadership spans over twenty years. After earning his degree in electrical engineering from USC, he started MAG Innovision, followed by the purchase of Princeton Graphic Systems, before launching VIZIO in 2002. Today, Wang oversees VIZIO's strategic direction and is deeply committed to delivering visionary products at a great value.

"I am grateful to be recognized by the Austin Asian chamber and the business community in Central Texas. Austin is known for its high tech community and entrepreneurial environment, so it is a special honor to visit and receive this award. I hope my personal journey inspires the next generation of Asian Pacific American entrepreneurs to great accomplishments," comments Wang.

Ovation is held in May to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage month along with the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Events around the country can be followed on social media with the hash tag #APAEverywhere which is the 2015 theme announced by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center. This national initiative celebrates the contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders to our country's history, culture and economy.

Ovation will take place at the Hyatt Regency Austin and include a cocktail reception, awards banquet program, live entertainment, and after party. Tickets to the event can be purchased at the event website:
