Austin IT Startup Investing in Users' Expertise

NocPlace Launching by Offering Cash Incentives

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - May 10, 2011) - In addition to the usual investments in technology and talented people, Austin startup NocPlace ( ) intends to offer cash incentives to "power users" of their service. NocPlace plans to attract IT experts by paying them for tips and information they share on the site. The company is recruiting paid users through the end of May.

"Our business is about preventing network failures," said NocPlace CEO Jack Holt. "To do that effectively, we need as much data as possible from IT experts to accumulate the information we send companies to take preventive measures and avoid IT problems."

Holt said everyone with IT experience and knowledge is invited to compete for the monthly payments from NocPlace. Winners will be judged based upon a "highest-value-added" assessment, which includes factors like the number of tips, their importance, ratings and "thank yous" from other users, and referrals to peers.

"We intend to award several thousand dollars every month during our launch," said VP of Sales, Murray McKerlie. "We think the users on sites like Experts' Exchange and Techrepublic ought to get a little something for their experience and knowledge. There is great value in what people have learned and are willing to share."

According to McKerlie, NocPlace also intends to promote awareness of the new company through a treasure hunt for $100 bills during this week's Interop convention in Las Vegas. The money, along with information about NocPlace, will be taped under random seats at the various seminars conducted during Interop.

NocPlace is the world's first proactive site for the prevention of network failures. Users are encouraged to "friend" devices, software, and IT issues so that they will get updates pushed to them in order to take action before a network goes down and does harm to a business. Enterprises can also securely upload equipment lists to check them against all currently known issues.
