Austin Pain Associates Offers Innovative New FDA Approved Therapy for Back and Leg Pain

First in Central Texas to Offer HF10 Therapy

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - Jul 16, 2015) - Austin Pain Associates (APA), the leader in pain management in central Texas, is pleased to announce that it is the first medical practice in the region to offer an innovative new FDA approved therapy for back and leg pain from medical device company, Nevro (NYSE: NVRO). The new therapy, called HF10™, is delivered by Nevro's Senza® spinal cord stimulation (SCS) system and aids in the management of chronic intractable pain of the trunk and/or limbs, including unilateral or bilateral pain associated with failed back surgery syndrome, and intractable low back pain and leg pain.

"APA has always strived to provide the best and most encompassing care for patients in central Texas. Nevro identified us as a center of excellence and enabled us to be the first in Austin and Central Texas to offer high frequency stimulation," said Paul H. Le, M.D., APA. "This therapy has been shown to be more effective in the treatment of back and leg pain. I am excited that our hard work and commitment to patient care has made this possible."

"High frequency spinal cord stimulation is a leap forward in SCS technology," added Adnan A. Khan, M.D., APA. "Following very promising results in Europe and Australia and FDA approval in the U.S., we are really excited about being able to offer this advancement to our patients. It is a great option for those who are seeking relief of low back and leg pain."

The Senza system delivering HF10 therapy experienced strong adoption in Europe and Australia over the past five years and received FDA approval in May 2015. The Senza system is the only SCS system that delivers Nevro's proprietary HF10 therapy, an SCS therapy that provides electrical pulses to the spinal cord to alleviate pain. The electrical pulses are delivered by small electrodes on leads that are placed near the spinal cord and are connected to a compact, battery-powered generator implanted under the skin. The Senza system is also the only SCS therapy indicated by FDA to deliver pain relief without paresthesia (a stimulation-induced sensation, such as tingling, burning, or pricking, which is the basis of traditional SCS), and to be approved by FDA to be used without patient restrictions on motor vehicle operation while receiving therapy.
