Australia's Installed Wind Power Capacity Could Reach 7 Gigawatts by 2014, an Industrial Info News Alert

TOKYO--(Marketwire - November 30, 2010) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- By the end of 2009, more than 1% of Australia's electricity demand was provided by wind power. Most of the country's windfarms exist in South Australia and Victoria, producing a combined installed capacity nearing 2 gigawatts (GW). The Stockyard Hill Windfarm, which could provide up to 470 MW for Victoria's regional grid, is scheduled for completion in 2013. Origin Energy Limited (ASX:ORG) (Sydney, Australia) is planning to invest about $900 million in the project.
