Austrian Energy Company RAG Chooses ScienceLogic for IT Operations Management

Oil and Gas Operator Replaces Open Source Tool With Enterprise-Grade ScienceLogic Platform

RESTON, VA--(Marketwire - Jan 24, 2012) - Austria's oldest oil and gas company, Vienna-based Rohöl-Aufsuchungs Aktiengesellschaft (RAG), has chosen the ScienceLogic™ Inc. IT operations management platform to improve the availability and performance of its IT infrastructure. Through its constantly ongoing exploration, storage capacity and role as a producer, RAG helps secure the energy supply for Austria and the whole of Central Europe, with operations extending to Germany, Hungary, Poland and Ukraine.

"The open source tool we were using for management provided limited visibility into our infrastructure, and we were spending too much time trying to bring it up to the level of a commercial solution," said Johann Krumböck, IT infrastructure team leader for RAG. "ScienceLogic gives us the enterprise-grade platform we need to centrally monitor and manage our infrastructure, including critical details about our LAN, WAN, physical and virtual server infrastructure. We plan to integrate our IT storage infrastructure into it in the near future to further enhance our operational awareness."

ScienceLogic provides a set of pre-integrated management functions -- including service desk, performance, fault, availability, asset, and event management -- all in one platform. This gives enterprises and service providers the IT operations management capabilities they need to manage diverse physical, virtual and cloud resources as one entity and improve business service delivery to end users. Having a consistent, correlated set of metrics across both on-premises and remote cloud infrastructures speeds troubleshooting and business impact, simplifies and optimizes management workflows, increases efficiency, and reduces costs. The time saved trying to integrate multiple management tools can be used for more strategic projects in support of the business.

"As companies such as RAG grow and their IT infrastructures become more complex, the point tools and traditional management frameworks they relied upon become insufficient to support the IT resources the business needs," said Scott Sherwood, senior vice president of worldwide sales for ScienceLogic. "ScienceLogic was built to support dynamic computing environments now and as they grow, becoming the central management hub by easily integrating any applications, components, and services our customers need."

Schoeller Network Control, a specialized provider of troubleshooting, network and system monitoring and IT security based in Vienna, helped RAG choose the ScienceLogic product.
