Authentic8 Expands Browser Misattribution Capabilities for Infosec Researchers

Researchers Using Authentic8's Cloud-Based Silo Browser Can Now Vary Browser Profile Elements, Such as Location, Time Zone and Localized Languages, to Match Their Investigations

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 21, 2015) - Authentic8, maker of Silo, the cloud-based secure browser for business, has extended the spoofing capabilities of its Toolbox configuration. Toolbox is a programmer's version of Silo, configured to route traffic through a network of global exit nodes, with features including code analysis and packet capture tools.

Information security professionals have been embracing Toolbox as a powerful yet convenient way to safely analyze malicious web content without exposing their local environments. The latest enhancements reflect customer requests to expand Toolbox misattribution capabilities, including the ability to mask platform identity and other characteristics of a local user.

"Fraud and forensic teams are under increasing pressure to rapidly identify threats on the web, but the lack of effective tools has hampered their work," says Ramesh Rajagopal, co-founder and President of Authentic8. "A primary reason has been the dynamic way in which bad sites adjust their content based on the location and identity of the user's browser. Now, in addition to accessing the content as if situated in a particular region, a researcher can configure other fingerprint attributes to cloak the Toolbox session and interact with foreign language content while remaining undetected."

With the latest release of Toolbox enhancements, customers will enjoy greater flexibility to pick and vary browser profile elements to match their investigation. Enhancements include:

  • Regional settings -- egress location, time zone, localized languages
  • Browser attributes -- user-agent string, platform, plugin controls
  • Translation tools -- full-page and selected text translation for 90 languages

These enhancements are available now as a core part of the Toolbox configuration. Contact Authentic8 for more information.
