Author Debbe Kennedy Joined by Filmmaker Joel A. Barker for a Special Event on Diversity, Innovation and Leadership

Event Marks the Release of Kennedy's "Putting Our Differences to Work" and Offers a Preview of Barker's "Innovation on the Verge"

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - June 9, 2008) - On Thursday, June 19th, at the Grace Cathedral Conference Center (1100 California Street, San Francisco), author Debbe Kennedy, founder of the Global Dialogue Center, is co-hosting a special gathering and celebration to mark the release of her new book, "Putting Our Differences to Work: The Fastest Way to Innovation, Leadership and High Performance" (Berrett-Koehler Publishers). The dialogue begins at 4:00 PM (doors open at 3:30). Celebration follows with hors d'oeuvres and refreshments. There is no charge to attend. Because space is limited, RSVP is required. Learn more about the event and RSVP at www.puttingourdifferencestowork.com/gathering.

Kennedy's groundbreaking new book identifies five distinctive qualities of leadership that leaders must add to their portfolio of skills to make differences an engine of success. The book is both a personal and practical guide for leaders at all levels -- one that recognizes that leadership today is as local as any of us sitting at our desks and as global and collaborative as time, distance and technology can take us. Utilizing case examples, first-person stories, tools and exercises, she lays out a proven six-step process for making the most of differences in the marketplace, workplace and community.

Kennedy will be co-hosting the event with her longtime collaborative colleague Joel A. Barker, futurist, filmmaker and author, who will be previewing his new film, "Innovation at the Verge" (Barker also contributed the foreword and a chapter to Kennedy's book, and highlights the work in his film). "Innovation at the Verge" is about a little-known territory where great innovations await those who have broad-spectrum vision, which is found in high-diversity teams. Barker will provide and overview the film and share some of its stories and examples.

Also speaking at this unique event will be Lane A. Michel, Executive Vice President, Quaero Corporation; Emily Duncan, former VP, Culture and Diversity, Hewlett Packard; Charles Kelly, Commissioner General, World Urban Forum / Government of Canada, a UN-Habitat Programme; Oguchi Nkwocha, M.D., Biafra/south-eastern Nigeria; Melissa Kramer, Women's Earth Alliance; and John Renesch, Future Shapers Institute.
