LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - November 21, 2007) - Gas prices posted a net gain in Southern
California over the past week, but the pace has slowed as they near
all-time records, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's
Weekend Gas Watch.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long
Beach area is $3.402, which is 2.3 cents higher than last week, 28 cents
above last month, and 91 cents more than last year. In San Diego, the price
is $3.420, which is 1.7 cents above last week's price, 25 cents up from
last month, and 88 cents higher than last year. On the Central Coast, the
average price is $3.500, up 1.8 cents from last week, 25 cents above last
month, and 75 cents more than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average
price is $3.392, 1.3 cents more than last week, 27 cents above last month,
and 90 cents higher than last year.
"Price averages have actually dropped slightly in most Southern California
areas over the past couple of days, but it's too early to tell if we've
reached the peak of this spike yet," said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey
Spring. "Thanksgiving weekend travelers in the Southland and throughout the
U.S. will be paying the highest gas prices on record for this holiday."
