AutoGrid, the Flexibility Management Software Leader, Appoints Christopher Sternberg as Chief Operating Officer to Manage Global Growth

Sternberg brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in energy, data analytics and Internet of Things technologies

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 6, 2017) - AutoGrid, the leader in flexibility management software, announced today that it has appointed Christopher Sternberg as its Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Sternberg will oversee execution of the company's business strategy and drive further adoption of its flagship applications, AutoGrid Flex™ and AutoGrid Engage™. The company's patented Predictive Controls™ technology leverages advanced data science, machine learning and high performance computing to control and optimize distributed energy resources (DERs) such as battery storage, EVs, commercial and industrial loads and smart thermostats at scale.

Sternberg brings to AutoGrid more than 20 years of experience managing product development, sales, marketing, operations and business strategy for energy software and market intelligence companies. Most recently, Sternberg was a Managing Director at Genscape, where he led a team of analysts, engineers, scientists and developers providing applications and market data fundamentals to companies in the physical hydrocarbon supply chain. Prior to Genscape he was the Global Director of Platts, managing the company's portfolio of real-time pricing, analytical platforms and market data distribution. Sternberg was also Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Product Management at Aspect Enterprise Solutions, an industry pioneer in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for commodity trading, logistics and risk management systems. In 1999, he introduced the industry's first browser-based pricing ticker app for oil cash markets.

"As more distributed resources come online, the ability to seamlessly manage flexible capacity at the grid edge is allowing energy providers and owners of large asset portfolios to transform their business models and deepen their relationships with energy consumers," said Sternberg. "I am thrilled to join AutoGrid at a time when more and more energy companies are adopting AutoGrid's platform to successfully integrate and monetize distributed energy resources."

AutoGrid has seen a rapid adoption of its platform with over 350 percent year-over-year growth for two consecutive years, and currently has more than 2,500 megawatts (MW) of flexible capacity from distributed generation, storage and demand resources under contract. More than thirty global energy companies in regulated and deregulated markets around the world are using AutoGrid solutions to balance supply and demand, increase grid reliability, reduce costs and deliver value-added services to their customers.

"We are excited to add someone with Christopher's wealth of energy and enterprise software experience to our team," said Dr. Amit Narayan, CEO of AutoGrid. "His skill in managing diverse, global teams will support AutoGrid's rapid growth in North America, Europe and Asia, as we continue to support the transformation of the energy system and help create a world where everyone has reliable access to clean, affordable energy."
