Avail-TVN Changes the Game for Digital Media Metadata Management

New Content Prep Solution Improves Workflow Efficiency for Content Providers, Including Bloomberg and Sportskool

SHERMAN OAKS, CA--(Marketwire - March 8, 2011) - Avail-TVN, the largest digital media services company in North America, today announced the availability of its Content Prep Solution, an innovative metadata creation, asset management and workflow automation system for content providers who distribute digital media. This new web-based service was created in response to content providers' need to increase efficiencies within their established workflows. Content Prep was custom designed to simplify the process of metadata creation and management while streamlining the management, distribution and syndication of digital content. Current partners include Bloomberg and Sportskool, with plans to bring the new service to additional content providers over the next few months.

As consumer demand for digital media increases, content providers are tasked with managing an ever-increasing amount of metadata in support of media files. Avail-TVN's Content Prep Solution eliminates time-consuming manual workflow processes related to metadata input and management, and allows content providers to manage an array of license windows and asset packages and their syndication paths from a single interface.

"Avail-TVN's Content Prep service changes the game for creating and packaging metadata, which can be an arduous task," said James Cofer, Head of Distribution, Bloomberg. "This will allow us to simplify this process greatly, increasing both operational efficiency and quality."

Metadata files contain descriptive information about the content and define critical characteristics such as video codecs, associated audio channels, ad marking, and other elements used in tracking and syndication. The Avail-TVN Content Prep Solution, which integrates Signiant's Workflow Manager product, provides all the tools necessary to compose, edit, manage, and publish metadata for digital content. Content Prep also helps ensure that consumers can find the programs they want by helping content providers populate menus with detailed information that makes programming searchable for viewing or purchase.

"Avail-TVN listened to us about the issues we have around metadata preparation and responded with an easy-to-use product that meets our growing needs," said John Sorensen, VP of Production, Grace Creek Media, Sportskool's parent company. "The Content Prep solution makes it much easier to manage metadata and focus on getting the right content out to our viewers."

"Avail-TVN is focused on improving operational efficiencies so that our content and service provider customers can focus on their core competencies -- creating and delivering the most compelling content," said Jim Riley, Avail-TVN's chief revenue officer. "Our Content Prep Solution does just that -- automates what can be a time-consuming and tedious process to allow our content partners to focus on quality of content instead of operational process."
