- Avaya appoints Mark Wilson, former Sybase Senior Vice President, Corporate and Field Marketing to Chief Marketing Officer.

Today, Avaya announced the appointment of Mark Wilson as Chief Marketing Officer based in the company's growing Santa Clara, CA location. Formerly Senior Vice President of corporate and field marketing at Sybase (an SAP company), Wilson was named one of B2B Magazine's Best Marketers in 2011, 2010 and 2009.
Wilson brings extensive industry expertise to Avaya based on 17 years of experience in marketing roles at AT&T, KPMG and Sybase. In his most recent role at Sybase, Wilson oversaw branding and advertising, corporate communications, lead generation, sales enablement, and mobile product marketing functions. Previously, he co-led the strategy practice at KPMG Consulting's Information, Communication and Entertainment Group, and was a marketing manager in AT&T's Business Solutions Group.
At Avaya, Wilson will lead marketing's transition to a customer-solutions orientation as Avaya extends its leadership in effective, open-architecture communications and collaboration solutions that work for companies in the face of trends like Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD), cloud applications, and the consumerization of IT.
Wilson will be based in Avaya's growing Silicon Valley location along with key members of the Executive Committee, including Avaya CEO Kevin Kennedy and Senior Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development Pierre-Paul Allard. His appointment marks the 17th hire at the VP level or higher to join Avaya at the Silicon Valley location in the past nine months, bolstering local leadership in sales, marketing and product development.
Wilson holds an MBA and an MA in public policy from The University of Chicago. He earned his BA from University of California at Santa Barbara.
