Avaya Appoints Stephen J. Gold as Chief Information Officer


BASKING RIDGE, NJ--(Marketwire - May 24, 2010) -  Avaya, a global leader in enterprise communications systems, software and services, today announced the appointment of Stephen J. Gold as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

In his new role, Gold will be responsible for all aspects of Avaya's technology strategy, as well as driving IT excellence across Avaya business operations and systems globally. This includes identifying and prioritizing strategic IT initiatives to ensure Avaya remains at the forefront of technology while driving efficiencies across business functions.

Gold joins Avaya from GSI Commerce where he served as Executive Vice President, CIO and Corporate Chief Technology Officer, and was responsible for directing overall product and technology strategy for GSI's eCommerce business. Prior to joining GSI, Gold was Vice President and Divisional CIO for Merck & Company's US Human Health and Worldwide Vaccines divisions. Previously, Gold was Senior Vice President and CIO for Medco Health Solutions, and he has held other positions of increasing responsibility at Medco, Dun & Bradstreet and Sandoz Pharmaceuticals.

Gold holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from St. John's University. He will be based in Basking Ridge and will report to Avaya Chief Restructuring Officer and President, Operations, Jim Chirico.
