Avaya Government Solutions Introduces New Hosted and Managed Communications Services for Federal Agencies

FAIRFAX, VA--(Marketwire - Jun 11, 2012) -

  • Unified communications, contact center and data networking capabilities offered as secure, predictable, utility-priced services.
  • Standardized Avaya Collaborative Cloud framework and federal cybersecurity expertise enable economies of scale and high return on investment for video, mobility and collaboration.
  • Agencies with aging infrastructure can quickly transform their operations and improve performance with minimal capital expenditures.

Avaya Government Solutions today introduced Government Outsourcing Solutions (GovOS), a new easy-to-implement family of hosted and managed services for unified communications, contact centers and data networking. Each service provides centrally managed solutions on a per user basis that comply with the unique security and certification needs of the U.S. Federal Government.

Both civilian and defense agencies now have ready access to state-of-the-art features, and highly reliable communications and networking capabilities built around Avaya's Collaborative Cloud framework (previously announced here). This removes costly barriers to entry for new technology, and enables agencies to deploy specific services to users on demand.

Based on a highly scalable, SIP-based architecture, GovOS combines Avaya Aura™ unified communications applications, networking and services to support agencies of all sizes -- from small remote offices to large organizations with tens of thousands of users. An agency can take advantage of the latest applications and infrastructure, while safeguarding information vital to the performance of their mission.

The new services are offered in two configurations. They can be delivered as private, hosted services with local survivability over a highly-secure and reliable Avaya Government Solutions cloud-based infrastructure, or as a private managed service over the organization's own network. In both instances, a dedicated Federal Network Operations Center delivers around-the-clock service and support for the new applications and underlying infrastructure -- leveraging rigorous processes and best practices based on ITIL standards for IT service management.

For a predictable monthly rate per user, organizations using Avaya GovOS services can readily incorporate the latest collaborative communications applications, including mobility solutions and video. They will be able to operate more productively, streamline decision-making, re-engineer business processes and deliver seamless support to office staffers, mobile workers and telecommuters.

Both unified communications and data networking services are available now. Contact center applications are expected to be added to the AvayaGovOS platform later this year.

The new Avaya GovOS services comply with rigorous security certification standards established by the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and with emerging standards for Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) accreditation.

Federal agencies can readily order Avaya GovOS services through a variety of government contracts, including the General Services Administration (GSA) IT Schedule, GSA Alliant, GSA CONNECTIONS II, GSA NetworX and Washington Interagency Telecommunications Services (WITS).

Executive Quote:
"Federal organizations with aging infrastructures now have a more affordable and secure way to migrate to new collaborative communications capabilities, including mobility, video and more. With Avaya GovOS, they can reduce costs, transform their operations and respond to a variety of federal policy initiatives -- from support for telecommuters to new outbound emergency notification programs."
--Chris Formant, President, Avaya Government Solutions

Analyst Quote:
According to Gartner analyst Dan O'Connell, "The public sector requires the delivery of collaborative communications applications over a highly secure cloud framework. Cloud-based delivery models -- and hybrid solutions using a client's own infrastructure -- can be especially advantageous to federal agencies, enabling them to affordably roll out new capabilities and quickly expand to meet demand."

Additional Facts

  • Internal Avaya Government Solutions estimates show the average federal organization will save 25 percent of its communications budget over a three-year period with Avaya GovOS services.
  • Avaya Government Solutions receives high marks for the custom cloud services it currently delivers to a large federal agency with more than 90,000 users -- scoring 9.8 on the most recent Federal IT dashboard.
