Aventail Only SSL VPN to Win Prestigious Korean IT Awards for Third Time in a Row

Digital Times and Electronic Times Name Aventail Third-Time Winner of "IT Hit Product"

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 13, 2005 -- For the third consecutive period, Aventail achieved "IT Hit Product" status from South Korea's top technology publications. The Digital Times and Electronic Times honored the Aventail® EX-1500™ appliance with the "1H 05 IT Hit Product Consumer Recommendation Award" and "1H 05 IT Hit Excellent Marketing Award."

Leading IT analysts in Korea judged the products on technical merit, and the publications also evaluated market share information and surveys of end-user customers. Aventail was the only SSL VPN vendor nominated for these awards, surpassing other SSL VPN vendors, including Juniper Networks and F5 Networks.

Highlights from the awards include:

-- Aventail's End Point Control technology ensures security and control,
eliminating security threats by associating the level of access with the
level of trust of the user.
-- The EX-1500 ensures access to important information everywhere while
ensuring high availability and load balancing support.
-- The Aventail EX-1500 is more secure than existing IPSec VPN solutions
and provides access from any device, 365 days a year, 24 hrs a day.
-- Aventail's patent-pending Smart Tunneling architecture gives access
easily to all UDP, TCP, IP and back connect applications, such as VoIP.
Aventail secured the "Consumer Recommendation Award" in the Digital Times Hit IT Products of 1H 05 list. "Aventail now delivers a single VPN solution that unifies complete control and security with universal application access to all UDP, TCP, IP protocols, and back connect applications, such as VoIP," noted the Digital Times.

Aventail's Smart Tunneling technology is a Layer 3 tunnel with Layers 4 to 7 control, providing a direct, secure communication link between the end point and the application. Importantly, Smart Tunneling is integrated with Aventail's centralized policy model. All other VPN solutions on the market today either provide limited application reach or compromise full access by allowing security and policy gaps.

Aventail also won the "Excellent Marketing Award" in the Electronic Times Hit IT Products of 1H 05 list. The publication noted that, "The EX-1500 ensures that the end user can securely access important resources anytime, anywhere."

"We are thrilled to have received these prestigious awards from the Digital Times and Electronic Times for the third time running," said Michael Ang, Aventail's vice president, Asia Pacific. "South Korea is a global leader in wireless, broadband and VoIP technology adoption and we see a real market opportunity to deliver a remote access solution that meets this customer need."

Aventail has a strong presence in South Korea and plans to open an office there in the second half of 2005. Aventail is a leading player in the SSL VPN market with key Korean enterprises replacing their existing IPSec VPN solution with Aventail's SSL VPN. These companies include Hyundai Mobis, KTF, Namyang Aloe, Hanil Construction, Seoul Semiconductor and Ace Technology.
