Avilar Appoints Thomas Grobicki as Chief Executive Officer
Competency and Learning Management Solutions Provider Taps Founding Partner to Lead Organization's Growth

COLUMBIA, MD--(Marketwire - May 5, 2008) - Avilar, Inc., a leading provider of competency
management and learning management solutions, today announced that Thomas
Grobicki has been named as the company's new chief executive officer.
Grobicki possesses the necessary combination of leadership skills and a
deep understanding of Avilar's software to lead the company as it continues
to increase its market share in Web-based competency management and
eLearning solutions.
Grobicki's experience at Avilar is extensive; he was a founding partner of
the company in 1997 and served as its chief technology officer prior to
becoming the new CEO. He is also the Principal Architect and Designer of
Avilar's complete line of software products for human capital management
and training, and has been comprehensively involved in the learning
management and workforce development industry for the past 11 years.
Grobicki was first trained as a leader by the U.S. Air Force, where he
served for four years as an officer. After rejoining civilian life, he
managed the Columbia office of Syscon Corporation, a company that provided
software engineering services to The Johns Hopkins University/Applied
Physics Laboratory. He then joined AdaSoft, Inc. as vice president of
Engineering, where he continued to hone his leadership skills by acting as
the head of several advanced technology assessment projects at the Applied
Physics Laboratory and for commercial applications. Furthermore, he has
designed large distributed software systems, including immersive 3-D
audio/video systems, fault tolerant combat systems, and advanced network
technologies.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Duke
University; a Master of Science degree in Business Administration from the
University of Northern Colorado; and a Master of Science degree in Computer
Science from The Johns Hopkins University.
