AVN Reveals Noms for the Adult Industry's Biggest and Boldest Night!

CHATSWORTH, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 14, 2006 -- The nominations for the 2007 AVN Awards were announced today with winners in 119 different categories to be revealed live at the AVN Awards Show on January 13, 2007 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. This year's event is hosted by comic Jim Norton ("Opie & Anthony Show" and "Lucky Louie") and Wicked Pictures' sexy contract star and three-time AVN Award-winner Jessica Drake.

The 24th annual ceremony is the most important and star-studded night for the adult film industry as it rolls out the red carpet and celebrates the best and brightest in the business, with tickets available now to the general public. Well over 6,000 productions were reviewed by the AVN staff during the year and then again during a month-long nominating process. The event is an exhaustive effort treated with the same seriousness as the Academy Awards.

"With the enormous amount of product being released weekly on the American market, I must say how proud I am of the AVN staff for vigorously watching thousands of titles to come up with these nominations," said Paul Fishbein, president of AVN Publications. "Most of the categories have 15 nominees and that is designed to reward the thousands of people working in the adult business. While it may seem to be a large amount of nominees per category, comparatively speaking, it really isn't."

This year's action-erotica "Manhunters," from Wicked Pictures, led all titles in the film category with 24 nominations, while Ninn Worx's dreamlike "Sacred Sin," co-produced by rocker Eddie Van Halen (who also wrote the original music), came on strong in the video feature category with 18 nominations.

Vivid's Fellini-inspired "Emperor" earned 18 nominations in the film category, while Jenna Jameson's "Jenna's Provocateur" garnered 15 nominations, and Vivid's "Fade to Black 2" (a sequel to Paul Thomas's 2002 winner) received 14. With video titles such as Sex Z Pictures' "Corruption" (16 film nominations), Wicked's "Curse Eternal" (15 nominations), and Evil Angel's "The Fashonistas Safado" (14 nominations), this promises to be one of the most exciting years for the AVNs.

In addition to the much anticipated competitive categories, AVN also announced its inductees into the 2007 Hall of Fame. Some of the classic performers being honored for their work are: Tabitha Stevens, Kyle Stone, Nici Sterling, Taylor Hayes and Domonique Simone.

AVN's Mike Ramone commented, "Several new categories are debuting this year including Director of the Year (rewarding a body of outstanding work), Contract Star of the Year, Most Valuable Starlet (Unrecognized Excellence), Best Hard-Edge All-Sex Release and Best POV Scene (for the popular Point of View shot). These new awards reflect the ever-evolving nature of this important modern art form."
