Avocent Announces New USB Virtual Media Extension Capability Over IP

New Product Updates Expand the Capability of the Emerge™ ECMS2000U Digital Workstation Extender

HUNTSVILLE, AL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 16, 2007 -- Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) today announced new product updates for the Emerge ECMS2000U, a small form factor digital workstation extension product for users on Gigabit Ethernet networks. With the ECMS2000, it is possible to back-rack broadcast quality servers without impact to post-production operations. The product delivers high resolution digital and analog video, rich color depth, uncompromised responsiveness, CD quality audio, and is compatible with a wide range of user interface devices, consistent with the needs of today's digital content creation professionals in the broadcast post-production and editing environments. The new functionality includes extension of USB mass storage devices, such as thumb drives. In addition, at NAB2007, Avocent will conduct technology demonstrations of a new desktop mode that enables an ECMS2000 user station to access any computer node based upon login credentials.
