DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - Mar 31, 2014) - This week at the ACUTA Annual Conference 2014, Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST), a leading provider of best-of-breed Unified Communications (UC) software, will put the spotlight on the future of UC for colleges and universities. With more than 1,100 educational institutions utilizing AVST technology for campus-wide communications, Myers will share past experiences including challenges, successes and best practices for modernizing campus communications infrastructures. In addition, Myers will be joined by San Diego State University (SDSU) to share their successful hybrid cloud UC deployment experiences and future plans to enhance mobility and automate processes.
Titled 'The Evolution of the Personal Assistant,' Myers' first presentation will take place today, March 31, from 10:30-11:30 AM at Reunion E. Myers will take a detailed look at how the surge of smart mobile devices, coupled with a growing Millennials workforce, is projected to accelerate the adoption of virtual personal assistants for enhanced campus communications.
On Wednesday, April 2 from 1:15-2:15 PM at Reunion F, Myers will be joined by a co-presenter from SDSU to explore the intersection between UC and new mobile and cloud initiatives. They will explore the challenges universities face when transitioning their legacy communications landscape to new and advanced technology -- while considering security, interoperability and ROI.

The typical enterprise communications infrastructure is made up of a collection of technologies from multiple vendors, acquired over time and never intended to work together. To maximize user and business productivity, while leveraging existing IT investments, interoperability is a must.
AVST delivers the industry's most interoperable Unified Communications (UC) platform that brings best-of-breed voice, mobility and business process applications to the enterprise. Unlike virtually every other UC vendor, AVST does not constrain customers with a single vendor lock-in approach. In fact, it's the very opposite. By connecting new and existing technologies, AVST frees organizations from the constraints of a closed, single-source UC solution, unlocking the full potential of their communications infrastructure.
With over 15 million users worldwide and three decades of innovation excellence, AVST is unifying communications®.
Headquartered in Orange County, California, AVST maintains facilities in Seattle, Washington, Victoria B.C., Canada and the United Kingdom and has remote sales offices throughout the United States.
