Award-Winning Developer TAS Partners With Social Venture Exchange

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sept. 19, 2013) - TAS, a leading developer of innovative, mixed-use projects in emerging urban neighbourhoods, announces a new partnership with the Social Venture Exchange (SVX). SVX is an investing platform connecting ventures, funds, investors, and service providers to mobilize private capital towards public good.

"Through the SVX platform, TAS will be directly linked to investors who share a belief that they can receive lucrative investment returns while positively affecting social and environmental change. Our partnership with the SVX further demonstrates our commitment to building sustainable communities while returning a profit to investors," said TAS CEO & President Mazyar Mortazavi.

SVX is led by MaRS Discovery District, in close collaboration with TMX Group and with support from the Government of Ontario, Torys LLP, KPMG, RBC, the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation and a host of other partners. The SVX facilitates effective impact investments by allowing investors to identify screened impact investment opportunities, share due diligence, collaborate on deals, and provide ventures with increased access to capital and financial expertise.

As a requirement for listing on the SVX, TAS was certified as a Benefit Corporation (B Corp), a new type of corporation which uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. TAS will voluntarily meet higher standards of transparency, accountability and performance. As a B Corp, TAS joins a community of 830+ worldwide companies in 28 countries from 60 industries seeking to use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems.
