Summit Focuses on Medical Preparedness and Response to Disasters, Epidemics and Terrorism

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - March 3, 2009) -

WHO: Awarepoint (http://www.awarepoint.com/), a provider of real-time
location solutions (RTLS), along with Scott Sullivan, Business

Third National Emergency Management Summit. The Summit will focus
on the special challenges healthcare organizations face in
emergency situations. Mr. Sullivan will discuss UCSD's utilization
of the Awarepoint solution to track the location and status of
mobile equipment needed for patient care during the recent San
Diego fire disasters. This year's conference sponsors include

WHEN: March 4 - 6, 2009

TOPIC: 9:15 AM - Thursday, March 5, 2009 - Using a Real Time Location
System (RTLS) to Improve Hospital Response to a Disaster - Scott
Sullivan, Business Manager of Perioperative Services at University
of California San Diego Medical Center

Mr. Sullivan will present a case study on how UCSD Medical Center
used a real-time location System (RTLS) to improve their readiness
during the San Diego fire disasters. The case study will outline
how an increase in higher-needs patients during an emergency means
moving a lot of equipment and staff simply doesn't have time to
search for needed equipment. In order to keep clinics and
emergency rooms open, real-time access to location of equipment
is imperative. RTLS is able to direct staff to exact location in
the facility where equipment can be found.
