AWEA: Nine States Generated More Than 10% of Power From Wind in 2012, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - Mar 15, 2013) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) (Washington, D.C.) announced earlier this week that in 2012, nine states generated more than 10% of their overall electric power from wind, up from five states in 2011. Texas, with more than 12,000 megawatts of installed wind power, led the U.S. in the amount of wind energy produced, although this accounts for less than 10% of the state's overall power production. States in the Midwest hold the top five places in terms of the percentage of electricity from wind power.
