The email marketing provider is one of the first in its industry to achieve this accreditation, placing it among a limited group of companies that meet data protection requirements for sending personal data between the European Union and United States.
The EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework was designed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and European Commission to provide companies on both sides of the Atlantic with a way to comply with EU's data protection rules. To join the Privacy Shield Framework, a U.S.-based organization is required to self-certify to the Department of Commerce and commit to their business abiding by the Framework's standards.
AWeber worked with TRUSTe to conduct its EU-US Privacy Shield review and prepare for the self-certification program.
