TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 25, 2016) - AXA ART announced the appointment of Ms. Iris Handke to the position of Country Manager for its Canadian operations, effective April 1, 2016. In this new role, Ms. Handke will be responsible for all aspects of AXA ART's activities across Canada, including business development, risk assessment and fine art underwriting. She will serve as the primary liaison to Canada's broker community who play a key role in the fine art insurer's service delivery.
A trained art historian, Iris Handke brings 10 years of experience in fine art and insurance underwriting to the position. She began her professional career as an underwriter at AXA ART's Munich office in 2006, where she advised insurance brokers and clients on specialist insurance coverage for private clients, exhibitions and art dealers. Over the years she has held positions of increasing responsibility. Prior to this appointment she served as Chief Underwriter for AXA ART's museum and exhibition business within the Central European countries. Ms. Handke attended University of Passau, Germany where she earned an M.A. in art history, law and cultural anthropology and the title Diplomjurist. She is fluent in English and German and proficient in French.
Ms. Iris Handke will report to Christiane Fischer, President and CEO of AXA ART Americas Corporation. She will be based in Toronto.
