Axceler Posts 2.5 Times Growth on Record 2010 Results

Firm Expands Customer Base by Serving the Growing Need for Governance, Security and Auditing Solutions for the SharePoint Platform

WOBURN, MA--(Marketwire - January 25, 2011) - Axceler, the leader in Microsoft SharePoint administration and migration software, today announced record financial results for 2010 including 145 percent growth, more than doubling its year-over-year SharePoint management product revenues. Demand for Axceler's ControlPoint, the award-winning administration product for SharePoint, rose dramatically in 2010 as enterprises increasingly chose SharePoint as their collaboration platform. Privately-held Axceler, which spun off from Percussion Software in 2007, continues to be profitable.

Adding to the company's explosive growth was the addition of many new corporate customers during 2010, building on the continued demand around SharePoint governance and policy management. New enterprise customers in 2010 included organizations such as Biogen, Krispy Kreme, Bristol-Myers Squibb, HP, Harvard Business School, Sanford Health, Cleveland Clinic, Financial Partners, University of New Hampshire, Texas Instruments, and Yale Law School. Axceler also continued to broaden its global market penetration with new European clients including Royal Bank of Scotland, AstraZeneca, Siemens and Credit Suisse.

"Enterprises are increasingly investing in SharePoint as a strategic platform, regardless of industry, and SharePoint managers need better ways to control this growing platform," said Michael Alden, President and CEO, Axceler. "Customers are looking for products that simplify, optimize, and secure their SharePoint deployments as they expand within their enterprises. Our record-breaking growth is a direct result of delivering solutions that meet the migration and administration challenges of our growing global portfolio of customers. This year we expect our growth to further increase as more and more organizations upgrade to SharePoint 2010. Together ControlPoint and Davinci Migrator help organizations clean up their environments, migrate to the 2010 platform, and then manage it much more efficiently once they get there."

"Collaborative document management tools have become widely successful with organizations of all sizes and across all industries. To be successful with deployments, the IT department and the business must work together to put flexible governance processes and policies in place," commented Gartner Research Vice President, Mark Gilbert. "IT organizations are increasingly hoping that their deployments of today do not turn into their headaches of 2012. These tools should not become isolated islands of information; enterprises should increasingly take a comprehensive view and consider collaborative tools as part of a broader enterprise information management initiative. Enterprises will regard products that assist in creating metadata strategies, taxonomies and reporting as likely third-party add-ons."

Additional milestones demonstrating the company's 2010 growth include:

  • Expanded its SharePoint product portfolio through the acquisition of echoTechnology to deliver comprehensive, best of breed migration solutions for organizations upgrading to newer versions of SharePoint, including SharePoint 2010.
  • Launched Davinci Migrator for SharePoint 2010, which was a finalist for SharePoint Pro Connections "Best of Connections" Award.
  • Opened the company's fourth office, in Seattle, Washington, near the Microsoft campus. The company also has regional offices in London and Los Angeles.
  • Continued leadership in SharePoint administration, launching two major releases of ControlPoint as well as French and German language versions.
  • Increased global staff by 50 percent in all areas and doubled product development and support.
  • Signed a lease for a new, larger office space in its Woburn, MA headquarters building to accommodate continued expansion in 2011.
  • Broadened customer base globally with now more than one-third of all revenue now coming from outside the U.S.

ControlPoint, the leading SharePoint administration product and winner of the most recent Best SharePoint Product award, includes comprehensive permissions management, in-depth activity and storage analysis and the ability to measure performance of SharePoint environments against governance policies. It also gives administrators complete control over the configuration and deployment of their SharePoint environments.

Davinci Migrator offers comprehensive, risk-based control when moving to the latest SharePoint platform, from either SharePoint 2003 or 2007. It reduces the risks, lowers the overall cost and shortens the time it takes to complete a SharePoint 2010 migration. By helping administrators with the discovery and planning of their migrations as well as managing metadata and taxonomies, Davinci Migrator reduces the number of failed migration attempts and dramatically shortens project schedules.
