Axia Announces Fibre Optic Expansion to Fairview, Alberta

Axia's fibre network expansion continues to Northern Alberta with its multi-million-dollar investment into Fairview, Alberta

CALGARY, AB--(Marketwired - January 10, 2017) - By advocating to get 30% of homes and local businesses to express their interest in a fibre optic network, Fairview is to become the next rural community to receive fibre infrastructure from Axia. This announcement means unprecedented speed and reliability to homes and businesses in Fairview. Axia's fibre network is made available on an open-access basis, meaning long-term competitiveness and sustainability as the digital economy continues its unprecedented growth.

Operated from its head office in Calgary, Axia is dedicated to introducing competitively priced, state-of-the-art fibre optic Internet services to rural Alberta. This future-proof technology means residents will have robust network capacity and speed, eliminating online delays while offering symmetrical upload and download speeds. It also means reliable availability of VMedia IPTV, Ooma Voice over IP and numerous other cloud based services offering feature-rich options for markedly less money than existing legacy offerings.

"We're thrilled to bring our world-class fibre infrastructure to Fairview. Fibre Internet will unlock the digital marketplace for citizens for the same or less money than they pay today. Further, it will allow the community to leverage this transformational infrastructure as an asset for generations to come," says Robert Price, Vice President of Enterprise and Residential Service. "Progressive leadership in Fairview has shown impressive grassroots support and strong motivation to differentiate their community, augment its economic landscape, and attract the next generation."

"We believe that fast, reliable Internet access for everyone is a requirement in today's fast-paced, technology-based society," says Daryl Greenhill, CAO of Fairview. "To become a Fibretown will be a great enhancement to the everyday life of our residents and will help our community to grow and prosper."

Local NDP MLA and Minister of Energy, Margaret McCuaig-Boyd's office commented that this is very positive news and thanks Axia for its investment in Northwestern Alberta.

All Fairview citizens are invited to join the Axia Team on January 25th from 5pm - 7 pm at the Legion Hall to learn more about the construction process and ask any questions they may have about fibre connectivity.
