Axiom Microdevices' CMOS Power Amplifier Achieves Cellular Handset Full Type Approval

Fully Integrated CMOS PA Passes GSM/GPRS FTA Certification Testing

IRVINE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 27, 2007 -- Axiom Microdevices Inc., provider of the world's first and only fully integrated complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) power amplifiers (PA), today announced that its AX502 CMOS device successfully completed full type approval (FTA) testing.

FTA is a mandatory verification process used to ensure compliance with the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) specification. During this lengthy and complex testing process, the cellular handset and the AX502 PA were subjected to the tests required to declare that the AX502 CMOS PA, designed into a cellular handset, was 100 percent compliant to GSM specifications and performance requirements.

The AX502 integrates full quad-band GSM/GPRS PA function on a single integrated circuit (IC) using mainstream silicon CMOS process technology. Axiom Microdevices' patented technology, deployed in the AX502, allows the use of 0.13um silicon CMOS process technology to integrate all of the functions between transmitter output and transmit/receive switch. Power gain stages, small signal control circuitry and 50-ohm matching all are realized on a single CMOS die.

Prior to passing FTA, the reliability of the AX502 had been proven through thousands of hours of life testing at accelerated operating conditions. These included load mismatches of up to 15:1 VSWR and elevated supply voltages.
