Axiom Microdevices' Growth Spurs Move to New Headquarters

Accelerated Adoption of Its AX502 Power Amplifier Proves CMOS Is a Reliable Alternative to Proprietary GaAs and Fuels Company's Expansion

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - July 16, 2007) - Axiom Microdevices Inc., provider of the world's first and only fully integrated complementary metal oxide semiconductor power amplifiers (CMOS PA) for mobile handsets, announced relocation and expansion of its worldwide headquarters. The move to a new office follows announcements earlier this year that included a product shipment milestone, a technology industry award and full type approval of the company's CMOS PA technology in GSM/GPRS handsets.

"Our relocation is not simply about moving into a larger space; it is the culmination of a succession of events that confirms the market viability of Axiom Microdevices' technology and business models," said Brett Butler, chief executive officer, Axiom Microdevices. "From the company's inception, through three rounds of funding and customer wins, we are doing what many have said could never be done: delivering a CMOS PA as a viable alternative to gallium arsenide (GaAs). Our technology enables handset manufacturers to take advantage of the industry's investments in mainstream CMOS processes and provides for better long-term integration by removing the need for specialty process technologies."

Last month, the company announced shipment of its first millionth AX502 CMOS PA. In May, Axiom Microdevices' AX502 CMOS PA received peer recognition in the form of an AeA High Tech Innovation Award in the semiconductor category.

Until the advent of the AX502, handset manufacturers relied on multi-die modules, based on proprietary GaAs process technology available only from specialty foundries. Switching the PA to CMOS moves the last non-CMOS portion of the radio frequency (RF) block to a standard silicon process, which improves supply continuity and opens the door for future integration. The AX502 fully integrated single-chip CMOS PA also improves quality by reducing the number of potential failures associated with more complex implementations.

Axiom Microdevices relocated to the Irvine Business Center at 7585 Irvine Center Drive, Irvine, CA 92618 on July 6, 2007.
