Axolotl Announces SureScripts Certification, Facilitating Two-Way Physician and Pharmacy Information Exchange

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 9, 2005 -- Axolotl Corporation, a leading provider of health information management products and services, and SureScripts, the nation's largest network provider of electronic prescribing services, announced today SureScripts certification of Axolotl's Elysium EMR and Prescription Management solutions. As a SureScripts Certified Solution, Elysium will give physician practices two-way connectivity with all retail U.S. pharmacies connected to the SureScripts Electronic Prescribing Network.

In use since 1999, Elysium lets users create prescriptions and benefit from drug interaction checking and gender and age warnings, all through a standard Web browser. Prescriptions are automatically faxed to pharmacies, improving efficiency and overcoming legibility issues. With connectivity to the SureScripts network, physician office staff and retail pharmacists have bi-directional electronic communication, enabling Elysium physicians to receive prescription renewal requests, electronically, directly into Elysium EMR and send renewal authorizations, denials, and new prescriptions directly to pharmacists' computers. The SureScripts interface enhances the already established workflow within the physician office and streamlines the communications between the physician practice and the pharmacy.

"My medical group has written over 100,000 prescriptions using Elysium, building a prescription history for my patients. Using the SureScripts network, these prescriptions will now be sent directly to pharmacists' computers instead of fax machines. And our pharmacy partners can send renewal requests electronically, significantly reducing the office workload surrounding the prescription refill process," stated Robert Keet, MD, president of Western Medical Associates and medical director of Axolotl.

"The addition of the SureScripts network further demonstrates Axolotl's commitment to streamline our customers' operations and to facilitate their success by automatically attaining the most current pharmacy information available," says Ray Scott, CEO of Axolotl. "Axolotl continues to develop and leverage technology that fosters delivering high-quality, cost-effective healthcare and connecting communities."

"Axolotl has been a recognized leader in the design and implementation of clinical workflow solutions that help make a physician's practice run more efficiently while also improving the quality of care physicians deliver to patients," said Kevin Hutchinson, president and CEO of SureScripts. "It is a compliment to SureScripts to have our pharmacy network access added to their application, and we look forward to converting their existing and new physician users from a fax-based solution to a true EDI-capable transaction."
